HISTORY
Birthed on May 2nd, 2013, “Clean Up Foxboro Day” was co-founded by Town Historian Jack Authelet and Dooley Disposal Services. The vision began when local businessman AJ Dooley responded to an article published by Authelet entitled “Time To Clean Up Foxboro.” In his article, Authelet expressed his desire for a cleaner Foxboro, having walked through the community with his wife and witnessed numerous areas of litter.
Over the next 28 days, the two worked diligently to create an unprecedented event that would unite and inspire community members to give back to Foxboro, the same town that had given them so much. And what happened next was nothing short of a miracle.
On June 1st, 2013, despite the sweltering heat, hundreds of volunteers poured into the town hall parking lot and prepared for their deployment. Parents, grandparents, children, students, business owners, community groups and church organizations were amongst some of the eager participants who arrived that morning. In the end, over 10,000 pounds of litter was removed from the streets of Foxboro that day and “Clean Up Foxboro Day” was born!
